Fleming's 1928 mould (Penicillium notatum) became penicillin — WWII's wonder drug, saving ~200 million lives since. Truffles sell for lakhs per kilo — fungi as luxury food. But the same kingdom kills: Candida yeast infections plague hospitals, and Aspergillus spores threaten immunocompromised patients — fungi giveth and taketh.
