Classify: polythene vs nylon-6,6 formation. Step 1: Polythene: ethylene monomers add across C=C → no byproduct → ADDITION. Step 2: Nylon-6,6: diacid + diamine → amide links + H₂O lost → CONDENSATION. Step 3: Addition = chain growth (radical); condensation = step growth. Step 4: Byproduct (or not) is the classifier — water lost = condensation!
