Study notes

Why is aspirin both an analgesic and avoided in children with viral fever? Step 1: Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) blocks prostaglandins → pain/fever relief. Step 2: In children with viral infections, aspirin risks Reye's syndrome (liver/brain damage). Step 3: Paracetamol is the safer antipyretic for children. Step 4: Same drug, different risk profiles — age and context decide!
