Study notes
[Co(NH₃)₅SO₄]Br and [Co(NH₃)₅Br]SO₄ have the same formula. Distinguish them. Step 1: Add BaCl₂: first gives BaSO₄ precipitate (free SO₄²⁻); second doesn't. Step 2: Add AgNO₃: second gives AgBr (free Br⁻); first doesn't. Step 3: They are ionization isomers — the counter-ion swaps with a ligand. Step 4: Same atoms, different ions in solution → different tests!
