Fixed appliance biomechanics: leveling, space closure, finishing

Study notes
Why can't a large extraction space simply be closed by pulling with elastics? Uncontrolled pulling tips teeth into the space — crowns move but roots lag, creating tipped teeth with poor bone support. Proper space closure uses sliding mechanics with controlled force systems (or closing loops) that translate teeth bodily: crown and root moving together. Students learn: closing space is easy, closing it with roots upright and parallel is the skill.
