Study notes
A 45-year-old patient needs a gold crown on tooth #46. 1. Prepare the tooth: Use a diamond bur to remove 1.5mm of enamel. 2. Retraction: Place a size 00 gingival retraction cord around the tooth to push gums away. 3. Impression: Inject light-body PVS around the tooth using a 25-gauge tip. Place a heavy-body PVS filled stock tray over it. 4. Removal: Wait 5 minutes for the 'snap' set. 5. Outcome: The lab receives a perfect copy of the tooth margins, ensuring the crown fits snugly without gaps.
