Q: Why use cubic splines instead of high-degree interpolation? State natural conditions. High-degree: Runge oscillation (wild swings!)! Splines: piecewise LOW-degree (cubic), C² smooth joins! Natural: S''(x₀) = S''(xₙ) = 0 (ends straight). Solve tridiagonal for moments: O(n)! Smooth + stable: CAD curves! (Splines: smooth without swings!)
