Imaging physics: X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine basics
Radiodiagnosis · MBBS
Study notes
Head injury — CT brain; bleed seen; surgery. Imaging physics: X-ray (radiation — dense — bones — white: chest, fractures — cheapest), CT (rotating X-ray — cross-sections — trauma — brain bleed; contrast — vessels/tumors — kidney — hydrate), MRI (magnets — protons — soft tissue — brain, joints — no radiation — slow — claustrophobia; contraindications — pacemaker, metal), USG (sound — real-time — bedside — pregnancy — gallbladder, DVT — Doppler), nuclear (tracers — function — bone scan — metastases; PET-CT — cancer — FDG). The trauma brain is CT — speed saves.
