Study notes

Two forces of 6 N and 8 N act on a point at 90° to each other. Find the resultant. Step 1: Use the formula R = √(A² + B² + 2AB·cosθ) Step 2: θ = 90°, so cos90° = 0. The formula becomes R = √(A² + B²) Step 3: R = √(36 + 64) = √100 = 10 N Step 4: Direction: tan φ = 8/6, so φ = 53.1° from the 6 N force Answer: Resultant is 10 N at 53.1° from the 6 N force.
