Study notes

A cyclist travels at a constant speed of 5 m/s for 8 seconds. Draw the distance‑time graph and find the total distance. Step 1: Speed (v) = 5 m/s, Time (t) = 8 s. Step 2: Distance = speed × time = 5 × 8 = 40 meters. Step 3: On the graph, plot (0,0) as the start. From t = 0 to t = 8 s, draw a straight line with slope 5. The point at t = 8 s will be (8, 40). Step 4: The line’s slope (rise/run) = 40 m / 8 s = 5 m/s, confirming the speed. Result: The cyclist travels 40 meters, shown by a straight line from (0,0) to (8,40) on the distance‑time graph.
