Study notes

A 5 kg block slides down a rough incline of 30 degrees with coefficient of kinetic friction 0.2. Find its acceleration. Step 1: Forces along incline: mg sin(30) - friction = ma Step 2: Friction = μk × N = μk × mg cos(30) Step 3: a = g(sin30 - μk cos30) = 9.8(0.5 - 0.2 × 0.866) Step 4: a = 9.8(0.5 - 0.173) = 9.8 × 0.327 = 3.2 m/s²
