Cell membrane: fluid mosaic model
Cell envelope and organelles · Biology
Animal cell explorer
Interactive 3DPeek inside an animal cell — pick an organelle to highlight it and learn its job.
Controls
Drag the sliders or type a value — the simulation updates live.
Study notes
Example: Drop a red blood cell in salty water. Water leaves the cell by osmosis through the membrane, the cell shrivels (crenation). In pure water it swells. The membrane lets water pass but blocks salt — that selective control is the fluid mosaic in action.
