Fungal disease: ringworm
Health and pathogens · Biology
Study notes
Wrestlers and schoolchildren get ringworm from shared mats and towels — the classic red ring with a clear centre on the skin. Athlete's foot is its foot version, thriving in sweaty shoes; keeping feet dry cures as much as creams. Antifungal creams (clotrimazole) clear most cases in 2–4 weeks — but sharing combs spreads scalp ringworm through whole classrooms.
