Study notes
Separate a mixture of sand, salt and water. Step 1: Filtration — pour through filter paper. Sand stays on the paper (residue); salt water passes through (filtrate). Step 2: Evaporation — heat the salt water gently. Water evaporates, salt crystals remain. Result: sand recovered by filtration, salt by evaporation, water lost as vapour (or recovered by distillation).
