Study notes
A toothpaste ad claims 'clinically proven' from 20 users. Why is the student unimpressed? Small sample, no control group, no blinding - the claim fails basic appraisal; an RCT with hundreds would convince. Students learn critical appraisal: sample size, controls, blinding, p-values with confidence intervals, conflicts of interest - because dentistry's market overflows with 'proven' products that evidence never met.
