Study notes
Why is a Co-Cr alloy chosen for a removable denture framework instead of gold? The framework must be thin, rigid and fatigue-resistant so the denture stays stable during chewing. Cobalt–chromium is much stiffer and stronger per unit thickness than gold alloys and costs far less, so thin clasps and connectors can be cast precisely. Gold is kinder to tissues and easier to adjust, but its lower stiffness would need bulkier sections.
