A coal sample: C=80%, H=5%, O=4%, S=1%. Find GCV by Dulong formula. GCV = 33800(0.80) + 144000(0.05 - 0.04/8) + 9270(0.01) = 27040 + 144000(0.045) + 92.7 = 27040 + 6480 + 92.7 = 33612.7 kJ/kg.
