An organic compound shows IR absorption at 1715 cm-1. What functional group? The 1700-1750 cm-1 region is the C=O stretch of ketones, aldehydes, and carboxylic acids. Combined with no broad O-H band, this indicates a ketone or aldehyde carbonyl group.
