Induction with propofol — smooth sleep; sevoflurane maintains. General anesthesia (stages — I analgesia; II excitement — delirium; III surgical — 4 planes; IV overdose: triad — unconsciousness, analgesia, muscle relaxation): inhalational (sevoflurane — smooth — induction; desflurane — fast; N2O — analgesic — second gas; MAC — potency), IV (propofol — induction — rapid; ketamine — dissociative — bronchodilator; etomidate — cardiac stable; opioids — fentanyl — analgesia; benzodiazepines — midazolam), balanced (combine — less of each). The excitement stage is II — avoid stimulation.
