Virology: rabies, polio, oncogenic viruses
Microbiology · MBBS
Study notes
A child bitten by a stray dog — the wound is washed 15 minutes, vaccine started. Rabies protocol: wash with soap and water 15 minutes (the single most effective step — removes virus), then category II/III — vaccine (days 0, 3, 7, 14, 28) + rabies immunoglobulin infiltrated into the wound (category III). Once hydrophobia/aerophobia appear, death is certain — prevention is the only treatment. Every dog bite is a rabies case until the animal is proven healthy — wash, vaccinate, never wait.
