Study notes
An 11-year-old's upper canine is palpably missing and the lateral incisor's root is resorbing. Why is this urgent? The impacted canine is resorbing the neighbour's root - silent destruction. Management: CBCT localization, surgical exposure, orthodontic traction to guide it in - or extraction if hopelessly positioned. Students learn the screening rule: every 10-11-year-old gets canine palpation; a missing bulge means X-ray - because early detection saves both teeth.
