Pain management: acute, chronic, labor analgesia
Anesthesiology · MBBS
Study notes
Labor pain — epidural placed; painless delivery. Pain: acute (multimodal — paracetamol + NSAID + opioid — less opioid: PCA — patient-controlled — basal-free — safe; regional — blocks), chronic (biopsychosocial — neuropathic — gabapentin, amitriptyline, duloxetine; back pain — exercise — not bed rest; cancer — WHO ladder — morphine), labor (epidural — gold — bupivacaine + fentanyl; Entonox — N2O; remifentanil PCA). The labor gold is epidural — walking epidurals mobilize.
