Study notes

A body found stiff with lividity on the back — dead roughly 6–12 hours. Rigor mortis (ATP depletion stiffening muscles — starts 2–3h, full by 12h, passes by 24h) + fixed livor mortis (blood settling — on the back means undisturbed since death; blanching if <6h) triangulate time since death with algor mortis (cooling — ~1°C/hour early). Forensics reads the body's clock — but ambient temperature, clothing, and build shift it; the estimate is a range, never a timestamp.
