Study notes
Elderly fall on hand — dinner-fork wrist; Colles; reduced, casted. Upper limb: clavicle (commonest — FOOSH — middle third: sling/figure-of-8; surgery — displaced >2cm, open), humerus (surgical neck — elderly — axillary nerve — deltoid; shaft — radial nerve — wrist drop — hanging cast; supracondylar — children — Gartland — pulseless pink — emergency — K-wires), forearm (both-bone — children — cast; adults — plate both), Colles (elderly osteoporotic — FOOSH — dinner fork — dorsal displacement: reduce + cast; check median nerve — carpal tunnel), scaphoid (snuffbox tenderness — occult — scaphoid cast — AVN — proximal), hand (mallet — splint extension; boxer's — 5th MC neck — splint). The snuffbox tenderness is scaphoid — cast even if X-ray normal.
