Study notes
A cholera case triggers chlorination, contact chemoprophylaxis, and water testing. Control attacks the chain — agent (treat case — doxycycline), reservoir (safe water — chlorination), transmission (sanitation, hand hygiene), host (vaccine in outbreaks, chemoprophylaxis for contacts). Surveillance (IDSP weekly reports) detected the cluster; notification is the doctor's legal duty. Elimination (zero in an area) vs eradication (zero globally — only smallpox). The single case is the signal — the response is the system.
