An 18-month-old not walking — delayed; thyroid, hearing checked; physiotherapy started. Developmental milestones (gross motor — head control 3mo, sit 6–8mo, walk 12–15mo; fine motor — grasp, pincer; language — coo, babble, words — 10 words 18mo; social — smile 6 weeks, stranger anxiety: red flags — no smile 3mo, no sit 9mo, no walk 18mo, no single words 2yr, regression — investigate): developmental delay (≥2 domains — causes — perinatal, genetic, hypothyroidism, hearing: early intervention — physiotherapy, speech, special education): cerebral palsy (non-progressive motor — spastic commonest — perinatal insult: physiotherapy, orthotics, antispasticity). The milestone chart is the growth chart of the brain — plot every visit.
