A child — bow legs, wrist widening; rickets; vitamin D and calcium. Rickets (vitamin D deficiency — bow legs/knock knees, wrist widening, rachitic rosary, delayed teeth: X-ray — cupping/fraying; treat — vitamin D + calcium; prevent — sunlight, supplementation). Vitamin A (night blindness, Bitot's spots, xerophthalmia — supplementation — 9mo–5y program). Iron deficiency anemia (pallor, pica, koilonychia — Hb low, microcytic: iron syrup + deworming — worms bleed; diet — greens, jaggery). Iodine (goiter, cretinism — iodized salt). Zinc (diarrhea — 14 days zinc + ORS). The bow leg is rickets — sunlight is the prescription.
